Why was my AI-built app rejected by Apple?
Almost every AI-built app first-rejection falls into one of six buckets: 4.3 spam, 2.3 misleading metadata, missing privacy label, missing account deletion, broken restore purchases, or a broken support URL. Address them explicitly before resubmitting.
Why it matters
AI code generators produce shippable-looking code but leave the review-critical pieces missing. Apple checks the missing pieces specifically because they are where real user harm happens.
How to do it
-
Read the rejection message twice
Apple's wording tells you the exact guideline. Guideline 4.3 = spam/duplicate. 2.3 = misleading metadata or unfinished features. 5.1.1(v) = account deletion. 3.1.1 = purchase restore.
-
Fix in the order listed
Apple often lists multiple issues in one rejection. Fix them all and reply with one resolution message.
-
Reply in the Resolution Center
Explain what you changed and where. If a reviewer needs a demo account, provide credentials that actually work.
-
Resubmit with an incremented build number
Same version string, next build number.
Common mistakes
- Arguing with the reviewer instead of fixing the issue.
- Submitting the same build twice without changes.
- Providing a demo account that has been deleted.
Frequently asked
- How many rejections before Apple blocks my account?
- Rejections themselves do not block an account. Repeated policy violations after warnings can.
- Is there a "gotcha" list I can use before submitting?
- Yes — ShipForge Launch Doctor checks all six common rejection buckets before you submit.
